DAZED & CONFUSED
Dazed and Confused by Jimmy Clendenin
I hope you have taken some time today to remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice on this day 20 years ago. It is hard to believe that it has been 20 years. Please pray for the families of the victims of those cowardly attacks and pray that our nation be convicted of its many sins and seek God’s forgiveness.
This a rather impromptu blog today. I was not planning on “blogging” again until October 1, 2021 with the official launch of beechgrovebruceville.org, but I must admit I am a little dazed and confused.
As I type this, I want you to know I have no clue as to my physical location. I was headed to the Mississippi River for my usual time of meditation and prayer over the messages for Sunday morning and night, but I felt moved to “blog”, so I took a side road, and quite honestly, I do not know exactly where I am, and I am quite sure that it does not even have a GPS location, but anyway I digress.
As I said, I am a little dazed and confused. The classic rock group, Led Zeppelin, released a song in 1969 called Dazed and Confused, and honestly, that song title describes my state of mind this afternoon. Abortion rights activists believe that a woman should be able to choose to have an abortion at any moment during the pregnancy, and in some states, this includes the right to having an abortion the day before delivery, but the baby has no choice. I am told that I have to take the Covid-19 vaccine and do not have a choice. BY the way, I took my vaccine before I vacationed in the Rockies, so this is not an anti-vaccine blog, but it does confuse me that a woman can choose to have a baby aborted, I will be politically correct instead of saying what I want to say, but I cannot choose to not take the vaccination, but it gets more confusing because millions of undocumented immigrants can stream across the border and not even have to be vaccinated. Do you see why I am confused? Some can choose. Some cannot.
As I thought about this, I thought of one choice that we all have to make. We are confronted by many important choices. I would say choosing the right spouse is an incredibly important choice. Choosing the right career is an incredibly important choice. Rooting for Tennessee to beat Alabama is an incredibly important choice, but none of those are the most important choices you have to make.
The most important choice you have to make is what you are going to do with Jesus Christ? This is a choice you must make because eternity depends upon it. As the prophet Elijah asked the nation of Israel on the top of Mount Carmel, how long are you going to wait to decide to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. How long are you going to wait to decide to serve Jesus Christ? How long are you going to wait to share the Gospel?
When the dust is completely settled, the choice of what you are going to do with Jesus is the choice of eternal destiny. As Elijah asked, how long are you going to wait to decide?
